BlueHost Services

BlueHost is located in northern Utah and has been in business since 2003. The owners have been in business since the late 90s…web hosting pioneers. This article covers some general information about the bluehost company, founders, and overall service.

BlueHost has over 600,000 paying customers…average that out. $100/yr per customer  average = $60,000,000 per year. It’s a very large company and very well run. They are growing at an extremely fast pace, but are no strangers to this type of growth. BlueHost has been growing very fast since their launch in 2003. They reached about 10,000 customers in their first 6 months or so and they’ve grown exponentially since.

Matt Heaton and another partner founded the company in 2003. He sold his former company 50megs (a free web hosting provider). Then he started 0catch which he owned when he started BlueHost. 0Catch was later sold to people in the area. The concept of those prior companies was focused on free web hosting, but BlueHost was different.

BlueHost came along in the industry when web hosting prices were still high. BlueHost charged $6.95 per month for web hosting while the next cheapest hosts were running $7.95. This helped the growth along with the owner’s connections with affiliates in the industry. The BlueHost affiliate program has been credited, in part, for the explosive growth of BlueHost.

BlueHost didn’t start out offering unlimited web space, unlimited traffic, or even 24 hour support. They were not a one size fits all, but they were right for just the perfect number of people. As the company grew to certain numbers they started to expand customer support hours and expand features.

The owner partnered with another individual who started SimpleScripts which is now the primary tool for installing website apps such as WordPress, phpBB, joomla, drupal, and more. This is a rival program to Fantastico which is a cPanel add-on. SimpleScripts is a great tool that is easy to use. You can have a WordPress blog setup in less than 3 minutes with no technical expertise.

BlueHost then launched a sister brand – HostMonster which has helped the parent company reach it’s goal. Later, FastDomain was added as the domain name registrar for the web hosting company. This is one of the top 10 domain name registrars in the country now.

While the past history of the owner of BlueHost suggests that he will sell the company…we don’t think this is the case. BlueHost is a progressive company in the web hosting industry. They have developed quite a bit of proprietary technology over the years including a system to limit CPU usage on shared hosting accounts.

We’re proud to present this website which offers information on the tools, services, and details about the BlueHost web hosting service.
